History

The Hegeman String Band has had a long career in mummery. The band was organized on November 2, 1920 by music store owner Ernest A. Hegeman, a native of Holland. Since the 1921 New Year's Day parade, Hegeman String Band has been a consistent top ten prize finisher, comprising one of the best top prize records of any String Band.

Hegeman String Band was founded by Ernest A. Hegeman, a native of Holland, who first introduced the glockenspiel into the string bands.
